'Funk Yard'

We found a great place today for photos and admiring cool old stuff...especially wood, metal, stained glass and pottery. West End Architectural Salvage & Coffee House - conveniently located near Dos Rios......and a little advertising for downtown Des Moines. :)

WaterTribe Everglades Challenge

I've got crazy friends in Iowa. I'm preparing for a trip to Florida - visit family, photograph birds, kayak, and follow a crazy friend who's entered a 300 mile race down the coast of Florida! The 'rules' state: "We promise you nothing. We do not and will not even try to make this event safe for anyone. This event is not safe for anyone. This is no joke...." I invite you to follow along - the website will have live coverage starting March 7th. Good luck John!

Coyote

Coyotes are just shy, wild dogs. They won't hurt you - well, unless you're a chicken or a Chihuahua. I recently acquired a device to call coyotes (thanks Jeff) - hope to get more photos this week.

Lessons in Self Understanding

I invite you to be introspective today - mostly because I've had to be and misery loves company they say......are you a 'doer' or a 'thinker'? My energy is difficult to harness, so I'm a 'doer' and putting together presentations requires more focus than I employ.....I prefer to get lost in hyperbole and rhetoric....if any of you word wizards have suggestions for me I'd be appreciative....better yet, come to Iowa and help me out! This is all I've got so far......

Life's Reflections

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Love those who are special to your heart, and even those who aren't. Believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands! Be passionate; make plans for tomorrow based on lessons learned yesterday, but live for today.

New Perspectives

I have a unique friend who 'sees' things that others don't. While hiking today the rest of us walked past this unusual scene. His interesting mind didn't miss it. And, thus, this unfortunate deer is immortalized. If you hang around the right people your eyes can be opened to new perspectives.......
