Snow

Farm near Peterson's Pitts

Growing up in Okinawa, Maryland, and Virginia didn't provide much opportunity for skiing, but four years ago some friends introduced me to this winter sport....I loved it, although that first year I think I spent more time falling down than skiing.  Today Jen tried skiing for the first time;  Luke joined me earlier in the week, as well as Jeri and her friend on new snowshoes.   If you've got to live where it's cold you might as well enjoy it! :)

Wasseling

Perhaps it was the Five Back-to-Back Episodes of 'Sing Off America' - but the Christmas Eve 'Spinach Lasagna Dinner' turned into a Costume Party complete with mixed choral music and theatrics bringing back fun memories of Madrigal Dinners.

The 'decorators' got a little carried away with the lights and decorating this year - they decorated the dog....and gave him a hair cut....

Choosing

Bringing in the tree...I just love the smiles!!

Ahhhh, it's a marshmallow world in the winter;
the world is your snowball just for a song..... :)

Santas On The Skunk River - Annual SRPs Waffle Paddle

Santa's on the Skunk

  A little problem with a run-away boat :)

Icicles - 23 degrees with gusty winds; the weather was a deterrent for many paddlers this year.

Last Days of Open Water 2010

Steve holds up a piece of ice pulled from the water.  The rim ice can be seen just beyond his boat.

Pretty Ice and Snow Formations on the Rocky Shores -
the forecast calls for snow and wintery temperatures this weekend.  Suspect this is the last of the open water for the season, but the snow will be beautiful and fun too!
