Early Morning Quietude. Just the dew drops, the breeze, the early light...and the buzz of my tiny iridescent friends defending their food sources.
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). Hummingbirds are very peaceful, and almost tame in my presence, but they protect their homeland with the heart of an eagle. They are making preparations for their migration south for the winter months, and the nectar at my (their) feeders is important to surviving their long journey...they will not be sharing my mornings by first frost. I look forward to their return in the Spring.
